UJ Online Applications Are Free

One of the important features of the UJ application process is that online applications are free. The university specifically warns applicants against individuals or companies that charge money to assist with UJ applications or promise admission or a study place.

Applicants should therefore use the official UJ application channels and avoid paying third parties who claim that they can guarantee admission.

2026 Undergraduate Applications

According to UJ's current admissions information, undergraduate applications for 2026 opened on 1 April 2026 and close on 31 October 2026 at 12:00. The university states that late applications will not be accepted.

Prospective students should apply as early as possible and make sure they understand the admission requirements for their chosen qualification before submitting an application.

How to Apply to the University of Johannesburg

The application process involves several important steps.

Step 1: Check Your Admission Point Score

Applicants should first use the UJ APS Calculator to help determine whether they meet the minimum admission requirements for their intended qualification. UJ recommends that applicants consult the relevant undergraduate prospectus before applying.

Step 2: Choose Your Qualification

Prospective students should review the qualifications offered by UJ and check the minimum requirements for their preferred programme.

Applicants should carefully consider their choices because undergraduate applicants may select only two study choices per academic year, and these choices cannot be changed after submission.

Step 3: Prepare Your Information

Applicants should have a valid personal email address and the relevant academic information available when completing the online application.

Depending on the applicant's circumstances, UJ may require supporting documentation or academic records. Applicants who have previous tertiary studies must disclose those studies and may need to submit their academic record/transcript.

Step 4: Submit Your Application Online

New applicants can use UJ's official online application system to complete and submit their applications.
