4. Understanding DUT Application Status 2027

When checking your application through the CAO portal, you may encounter different application statuses.

Understanding what these statuses mean can help you determine the next steps.

Waiting for a Decision

This status means that the university has not yet made a final decision on your application.

Your application is still awaiting consideration by the institution. You should regularly check the CAO portal for updates.

For applications submitted on time, this status indicates that the application is awaiting a selection decision.

Awaiting Results

This status means that the university is waiting for additional academic results before making a decision.

For example, DUT may need your final matric results or other outstanding academic information.

Applicants should ensure that all required results and supporting documents are submitted.

Conditional Offer

A conditional offer means that DUT is prepared to offer you admission, provided that you meet the conditions specified by the university.

These conditions may include achieving particular marks in your final examinations or meeting other programme requirements.

Applicants who receive conditional offers should carefully read the admission letter and make sure they understand the conditions.

Firm Offer

A firm offer indicates that the university has offered you a place in the selected programme.

Applicants who receive a firm offer should follow the instructions provided by DUT regarding acceptance and registration.

Always check the offer letter for deadlines and any outstanding requirements.

Shortlisted or Waitlisted

A shortlisted or waitlisted status means that your application is still under consideration.

The university has not yet confirmed whether it can offer you a place.

Applicants should continue monitoring their application status and respond promptly if the university requests additional information.

Regret Unsuccessful

This status means that DUT has decided not to offer you admission to the particular programme.

If you applied for several programmes, check each choice separately because the outcome may differ between programmes.

You may also explore other available study opportunities, subject to their application deadlines.

These status descriptions are based on the CAO's published application guidance. The exact decision and any further instructions should be confirmed through your application portal.

If your application is still pending:

• Monitor your email and SMS messages for communication from DUT or the CAO.
• Contact the relevant institution if you need clarification about your application.

If your application was unsuccessful:

• Review the admission requirements for your chosen programme.

6. DUT 2027 Application Status and Important Documents

Applicants should keep their application information and supporting documents readily available.

Depending on your circumstances and programme, you may need some of the following documents:

• South African identity document or passport
• Matric certificate or statement of results
• Previous academic qualifications, where applicable
• Proof of any additional qualifications required by the programme
• Other supporting documents requested by DUT

Make sure that your documents are clear, accurate, and submitted through the appropriate application system.

If DUT or the CAO requests additional documents, submit them as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary delays.

7. How Long Does DUT Take to Respond to Applications?

There is no single response date that applies to every DUT applicant.

Admission decisions may be released at different times, depending on the programme, the number of applications received, the selection process, and whether the applicant has submitted all the required information.

Some applicants may receive decisions earlier than others.

If your application status still shows Waiting for a Decision, it does not necessarily mean that your application has been rejected.
