About the In-Service Training Programme

The P1 and P2 In-Service Training Programme is designed for students who are required by their academic institutions to complete practical workplace training as part of their qualification. The programme allows students to apply theoretical knowledge gained during their studies while gaining hands-on experience in real industrial environments.

Through this initiative, Glencore provides structured training, mentorship, and technical exposure to help students develop the practical competencies needed in engineering and scientific careers.


Available Training Opportunities

The current external advertisement includes the following placements:

Metallurgical Engineering – Production (1 Position)

This opportunity is aimed at Metallurgical Engineering students who need practical training within a production environment. Trainees will gain experience in metallurgical processes used in mining and mineral processing operations.

Participants may be exposed to:

  • Mineral processing and extraction techniques

  • Plant operations and production processes

  • Monitoring metallurgical performance and efficiency

  • Process optimisation and troubleshooting

  • Safety procedures in industrial operations

This placement provides an excellent opportunity for students to understand how metallurgical theory is applied in large-scale mining and processing facilities.


Analytical Chemistry – Laboratory (2 Positions)

Two opportunities are available for Analytical Chemistry students who require P1 and P2 practical training within a laboratory environment.

Students placed in the laboratory will gain exposure to:

  • Chemical analysis of minerals and materials

  • Laboratory testing procedures and equipment

  • Quality control processes in metallurgical laboratories

  • Data recording and analysis of laboratory results

  • Laboratory safety and compliance standards

This experience allows trainees to develop critical laboratory skills used in mining, metallurgy, and industrial chemical analysis.
