Job Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Administration Clerk positions across various police stations and specialised units in Gauteng. Successful candidates will provide administrative support, maintain records, assist with correspondence, and ensure the smooth running of office operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric), Senior Certificate, or NCV Level 4 (NQF Level 4 recognised by SAQA).
  • South African citizenship (proof will be required during the interview process).
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Relevant administrative qualifications or short courses will be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong administrative, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, professionally, and confidentially.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and, when necessary, extended hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the assigned police station, unit, or component.
  • Manage office correspondence, emails, and filing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and administrative documentation.
  • Prepare agendas and record minutes during meetings.
  • Compile reports and assist with data capturing and record management.
  • Ensure effective document control and office administration.
  • Support daily operational activities within the assigned office.

Additional Duties (Detective Service Posts – Heidelberg & De Deur)

Successful candidates appointed to the Detective Service will also:

  • Capture information on SAPS Crime Administration Systems.
  • Prepare and type reports, emails, and official correspondence.
  • Maintain and file investigation dockets.
  • Provide administrative support to Detective Service personnel.

Salary: R237,453 per annum (Level 5)
