Administrator – Temporary Position

Company: James Howden Holdings Limited
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng (Brakpan – CIGC Division)
Duration: 6-month contract

About the Role

Howden, part of Chart Industries, is a global engineering company specialising in air and gas handling solutions. With over 100 years of industry experience, the company supports various sectors in improving operational efficiency.

An opportunity is available for an Administrator within the CIGC Division. The successful candidate will handle a combination of stores control and administrative functions to support daily operations.


Key Responsibilities

Stores Administration

  • Receive and verify deliveries to ensure accuracy against orders (GRN and 3-way matching)
  • Inspect incoming goods for defects before acceptance
  • Organise and store stock according to set standards
  • Ensure compliance with AX, SOX, and GOM procedures
  • Issue stock (raw materials, WIP, consumables) in line with business processes
  • Address queries from internal teams and suppliers promptly
  • Conduct quarterly stock counts to maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant receiving area

Factory Recovery Administration

  • Compile and verify factory recovery hours
  • Capture and submit data accurately and on time for month-end reporting

Query Resolution

  • Manage and follow up on queries related to timesheets, stores, production, and other departments

Project Support

  • Assist with project invoicing for Howden Projects
  • Provide backup support for AX project administration

Additional Duties

  • Perform flowmeter calibrations when required
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and AX control requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in stores and office administration within an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of inventory control and stores processes (including GRNs and dispatch documentation)
  • Experience with ERP systems
