Job Overview

The Department of Defence is recruiting 17 Cleaners to provide cleaning and housekeeping services at various military health facilities in Bloemfontein and Pretoria. Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining clean, hygienic, and safe working environments in offices, kitchens, restrooms, and other departmental facilities.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum ABET qualification.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
• Willingness to work shifts when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean offices, corridors, boardrooms, elevators, kitchens, and other designated areas.
• Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, vacuum, and shampoo floors.
• Dust and polish office furniture.
• Clean walls, windows, doors, and other surfaces.
• Empty and clean waste bins and remove rubbish.
• Clean and maintain kitchens, including sinks and kitchen utensils.
• Clean and sanitise restrooms, replenish soap, toilet paper, hand towels, and air fresheners.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and materials in good working condition.
• Report faulty cleaning equipment and arrange for repairs when necessary.
• Clean equipment such as microwaves and vacuum cleaners after use.
• Request and collect cleaning supplies from stores.
• Ensure work areas remain neat, hygienic, and presentable at all times.
