Job Overview
A government department is inviting applications for a Driver/Messenger within its Fleet Management unit. The successful candidate will provide reliable transport services, deliver official documents and items, maintain allocated vehicles, and ensure all transport activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Valid Code B driver's licence (Light Motor Vehicle).
- At least one year of driving experience.
- A Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Competencies
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge of document sorting and distribution procedures.
- Understanding of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and other relevant government policies.
- Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and public service operations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and record-keeping skills.
- Good driving and technical abilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive light and medium motor vehicles to transport employees, official documents, mail, and departmental assets.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records of transported goods.
- Provide messenger services by delivering and collecting official correspondence and documents.
- Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and departmental transport policies.
