Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- A valid Code 10 driver's licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- At least three years of bus driving experience will be an added advantage.
- Applicants will be required to successfully complete a driver's competency assessment before appointment.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Safely transport learners attending special schools to and from school according to approved routes and schedules.
- Ensure the safety of learners during boarding, transit, and disembarking.
- Adhere to all road traffic laws and Departmental transport policies.
- Communicate professionally with learners, parents, guardians, and school staff.
- Report accidents, incidents, or emergencies to school management and relevant authorities.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Monitor vehicle condition, report mechanical faults, and arrange repairs when required.
- Carry out learner safety drills in line with legal and departmental requirements.
- Collect and deliver official documents, parcels, mail, and other departmental items.
- Purchase and transport groceries, equipment, and other supplies for the school.
- Transport learners to clinics and hospitals when required.
- Plan efficient travel routes using maps or GPS to ensure timely arrivals.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage records, fuel records, and trip documentation.
- Assist with general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, errands, and loading or unloading items.
- Provide professional customer service when interacting with stakeholders and obtaining signatures for deliveries.
