Programme Overview
South Deep Gold Mine is offering an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering through a structured learnership programme. This programme combines practical, work-based experience with formal technical training, equipping learners to qualify as artisans.
Applicants from host communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Eligibility (Host Communities)
Applicants must reside in one of the following areas:
Bekkersdal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein, or Westonaria Borwa.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Completed N3 qualification with 4 subjects:
• Engineering Mathematics
• Engineering Science
• Electrical Trade Theory
• Industrial Electronics - Medically fit for mining conditions (including heat tolerance screening)
- All relevant certificates must be attached to your application
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in technical and practical training aligned with MQA standards
- Maintain consistent performance and actively seek feedback
- Engage in personal and professional development discussions
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and code of conduct
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on-site
- Promote teamwork and contribute effectively within a team
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
