Midvaal Local Municipality is inviting unemployed individuals to apply for EPWP General Worker opportunities within the Public Safety, Roads, and Engineering Services Departments. The programme aims to create temporary work opportunities and help reduce unemployment and poverty.

Available Positions

• 20 positions – Roads & Storm Water Section
• 10 positions – Engineering Services (Water, Purification & Sewer Sections)

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 qualification
• Must understand and communicate in English
• Applicants must reside within the Midvaal Local Municipality jurisdiction
• Good physical health and ability to perform physically demanding work
• Ability to follow instructions and work in different weather conditions
• 0–1 year experience in general labour or labour-intensive work
• Must currently be unemployed or nearing the end of a contract term

Key Duties

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Loading and off-loading tools, materials, and equipment
• Cleaning work areas and assisting with maintenance duties
• Placing traffic signs near municipal roadwork areas
• Operating manual and electrical tools
• Carrying out labour-related tasks as instructed by supervisors
• Performing additional ad hoc duties when required

Important Information

• These are fixed-term EPWP contracts for a maximum period of 24 months
• Daily rate: R156.88 per day
• Preference will be given to unemployed youth between 18 and 35 years old
• Applicants from neighbouring municipalities outside Midvaal will be disqualified
• Incomplete or unclear applications and CVs will not be considered
• Appointment does not guarantee permanent employment
