About the Position

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is inviting applications for a Garden Worker position based at the Public Order Policing Unit in Cape Town (Faure). The successful candidate will assist with maintaining gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas to ensure a clean and well-kept environment.

Minimum Requirements

• South African citizen (proof of citizenship required).
• ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7, or NQF Level 1 qualification.
• Proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning detergents and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.
• Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and write.
• Able to operate basic gardening tools and equipment.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Willingness to work overtime or extended hours when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cultivate garden areas.
• Prepare soil and plant flowers, shrubs, and other plants.
• Fertilise, irrigate, weed, and prune flower beds and landscaped areas.
• Mow lawns and trim grass edges.
• Water and maintain lawns and gardens.
• Load and unload gardening equipment and materials.
• Remove garden waste and load it onto trucks for disposal or burning where applicable.
• Keep all designated outdoor areas clean, neat, and well maintained.

Salary

R144,024 per annum (Level 2)
