Starke Ayres, a leading African supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties, is looking for a dedicated General Worker to join its Maintenance Department in Kempton Park. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work and is passionate about maintaining attractive and well-kept gardens and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with general gardening duties, including watering, weeding, pruning, planting, and maintaining landscaped areas.
- Keeping gardens, walkways, entrances, and outdoor spaces neat, clean, and presentable.
- Supporting the maintenance team with seasonal landscaping and garden preparation projects.
- Removing litter, garden waste, and other debris from company premises.
- Mowing lawns, trimming edges, and maintaining healthy grass areas.
- Assisting with potting, transplanting, and the general care of plants.
- Reporting damaged plants, irrigation issues, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness.
- Following instructions and working effectively as part of the maintenance team.
- Performing additional maintenance and groundskeeping duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).
- Previous gardening or grounds maintenance experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of gardening tools and equipment (advantageous).
- Basic English literacy.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual work outdoors.
