South Group Recycling is looking for hardworking and reliable General Workers to support its daily recycling and material recovery operations. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and are committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Material Processing & Sorting

• Dismantle electronic waste such as computers, mobile phones, cables, and household appliances.
• Identify, separate, and sort various metals, electronic components, and catalytic converters.
• Classify recyclable materials according to company standards and recovery procedures.
• Prepare sorted materials for storage, processing, or transportation.

Metal & Catalytic Converter Handling

• Safely dismantle and process catalytic converters and metal components.
• Assist with grading and categorising recyclable metals.
• Handle materials carefully to prevent contamination or unnecessary waste.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Follow all company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or faulty equipment to supervisors.
• Participate in workplace safety meetings and training sessions.

Housekeeping & Warehouse Support

• Keep workstations, recycling areas, and warehouse spaces clean and organised.
• Dispose of non-recyclable waste according to company procedures.
• Assist with maintaining an orderly warehouse and yard environment.

General Operations

• Work closely with supervisors and team members to achieve production targets.
• Assist with loading, unloading, lifting, and moving recyclable materials.
• Perform additional general labour duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• No formal qualification required.
• Full on-the-job training will be provided.
• South African citizen or holder of a valid passport with a legal work visa.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
• Willing to work in a recycling and warehouse environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Advantageous

• Previous experience in recycling, manufacturing, warehousing, or general labour.
• Basic understanding of recyclable materials and metal sorting.
• Good work ethic with strong attention to workplace safety.
