Job Overview

South Group Recycling is seeking a General Worker to assist with daily recycling and material-processing activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for dismantling, identifying, sorting and handling electronic waste, catalytic converters and various recyclable metals.

The role requires adherence to company procedures, workplace safety requirements and environmental standards while helping maintain an efficient, clean and organised working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Material Processing and Sorting

• Dismantle electronic waste, including computers, mobile phones, cables and appliances.

• Identify, separate and sort different metals, electronic components and catalytic converters.

• Classify materials according to company specifications and recovery standards.

• Prepare sorted materials for storage, further processing or shipment.

Catalytic Converter and Metal Handling

• Safely dismantle and process catalytic converters and various metal components.

• Assist with grading and categorising metals and recyclable materials.

• Handle materials correctly to minimise contamination and material loss.

Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.

• Correctly and consistently use the required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Report hazards, equipment problems and unsafe practices to supervisors.

• Participate in safety training sessions and toolbox talks.

Housekeeping and Organisation

• Keep the recycling floor and work areas clean, tidy and organised.

• Dispose of waste and non-recyclable materials according to company procedures.

• Assist with maintaining an organised warehouse and yard.

Team and Operational Support

• Work effectively with supervisors and colleagues to achieve production targets.

• Assist with loading, unloading and moving materials when required.

• Perform other general labour and operational duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

• No formal qualification is required.

• On-the-job training will be provided.

• Applicants must be South African citizens or hold a valid passport and work visa.

Experience

Previous experience in any of the following areas will be advantageous:

• Recycling

• Manufacturing

• Warehousing

• Manual labour
