About the Company
Plennegy (Pty) Ltd is seeking a dedicated General Worker for its Starke Ayres Garden Centre based in Rosebank, Cape Town. Starke Ayres is a leading African supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties for both commercial and home gardening markets.
Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will provide general support within the Garden Centre by assisting with maintenance, nursery care, stock handling, cleaning, and customer service duties. The role aims to ensure a clean, organised, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with watering and caring for plants
- Repack and restock merchandise when required
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the Garden Centre, sales floor, parking areas, and surrounding grounds
- Clean gutters and stormwater drainage systems
- Sweep and blow allocated areas within the Garden Centre
- Support nursery maintenance and stock care
- Assist with loading bay housekeeping and stock handling
- Help offload, price, and move stock to the sales floor
- Perform basic painting, touch-ups, and maintenance of fences, benches, pots, signage, and fixtures
- Assist with minor repairs and upkeep tasks
- Help set up and move display areas and garden features
- Keep tools and equipment storage areas neat and organised
- Support seasonal nursery preparations, including irrigation and shade netting maintenance
- Report hazards and maintenance concerns to management promptly
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Previous maintenance experience will be advantageous
