The Department is inviting applications for 12 Road Worker positions within the Routine Maintenance Component across the Capricorn, Sekhukhune, Waterberg, and Mopani Districts. Successful candidates will assist with road maintenance and construction activities to ensure the safety and quality of the provincial road network.

Minimum Requirements

• NQF Level 4 qualification recognised by SAQA.

Knowledge and Competencies

• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and road maintenance procedures.
• Understanding of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Knowledge of operating road maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Familiarity with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Good communication skills.
• Planning and organisational skills.
• Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Creativity and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine road maintenance and construction work.
• Construct culverts, side drains, road embankments, and pavement layers.
• Install and maintain steel guardrails and gabions.
• Repair potholes and carry out road surfacing activities.
• Clean roads, sidewalks, road reserves, and rest areas.
• Install road signs, distance markers, road studs, and barricades.
• Lay pipes and erect road fencing.
• Crush road-building materials where required.
• Clear bushes and cut grass along road reserves.
• Ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with departmental standards.
