Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
- Have a Grade 10 (Standard 8), NCV Level 2, or an equivalent NQF Level 2 qualification recognised by SAQA.
- Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
- Hold at least a Grade C Security Certificate.
- Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
- Be willing to complete and maintain firearm competency training.
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
- A valid light motor vehicle driver's licence and relevant security-related training will be advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
Successful candidates should possess:
- Knowledge of access control procedures.
- Understanding of security legislation and government security policies.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures.
- Ability to control the movement of people, vehicles, equipment, and government property.
- Good communication, observation, and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Controlling access to SAPS premises in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
- Verifying the identity of employees, visitors, and contractors.
- Registering visitors and issuing access cards.
- Conducting security searches where required.
- Authorising entry and ensuring visitors are escorted when necessary.
- Inspecting goods, equipment, and deliveries entering or leaving SAPS premises.
- Patrolling buildings and secured areas to maintain safety.
- Protecting SAPS vehicles, equipment, and government property.
- Monitoring security systems and reporting faults or security risks.
- Reporting incidents, irregularities, and security breaches to senior security personnel.
