Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Have a Grade 10 (Standard 8), NCV Level 2, or an equivalent NQF Level 2 qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
  • Hold at least a Grade C Security Certificate.
  • Not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Be willing to complete and maintain firearm competency training.
  • Be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
  • A valid light motor vehicle driver's licence and relevant security-related training will be advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Knowledge of access control procedures.
  • Understanding of security legislation and government security policies.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to control the movement of people, vehicles, equipment, and government property.
  • Good communication, observation, and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Controlling access to SAPS premises in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
  • Verifying the identity of employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Registering visitors and issuing access cards.
  • Conducting security searches where required.
  • Authorising entry and ensuring visitors are escorted when necessary.
  • Inspecting goods, equipment, and deliveries entering or leaving SAPS premises.
  • Patrolling buildings and secured areas to maintain safety.
  • Protecting SAPS vehicles, equipment, and government property.
  • Monitoring security systems and reporting faults or security risks.
  • Reporting incidents, irregularities, and security breaches to senior security personnel.
