Role Overview

A well-established transport and passenger services company is seeking experienced Shunter Drivers to join their operations team in Pretoria.

The successful candidates will ensure the safe, efficient, and precise movement of coaches and non-revenue vehicles within the depot environment. Key focus areas include maintaining operational readiness, executing fueling processes, and coordinating vehicle placement according to strict operational standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Movement & Depot Logistics

• Safely shuttle coaches and non-revenue vehicles between the workshop, washbay, and designated parking or loading zones.

• Ensure all vehicles are correctly aligned and parked systematically within the depot.

• Shuttle coaches between the depot and external loading points or take vehicles for road tests and official testing station assessments as required.

2. Fleet Readiness & Technical Checks

• Execute vehicle fueling processes strictly according to standard operating procedures.

• Secure all vehicles before parking by ensuring windows, doors, and roof hatches are completely sealed.

• Turn off all electronic components—including radios, heaters, and air-conditioning units—upon parking.

• Identify and promptly report any mechanical defects or operational issues to the management team.

3. Administration & Data Capture

• Accurately log fuel data, pump readings, and vehicle information using relevant digital systems and tablet devices.

• Maintain precise documentation and administrative records for all fuel allocations and fleet movements.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Grade 10 (Standard 8) minimum.

• Licensing & Compliance: Valid EC / EC1 (Code 14/11) Driver’s License accompanied by a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of active EC driving experience.

• Background: Clear criminal record and zero outstanding traffic fines.

• Driving Record: A proven, accident-free driving history.

• Language: Bilingual communication skills (English and home language).

• Logistics: Must reside within a reasonable traveling distance from the Pretoria West depot and have reliable own transport or access to dependable public transport.

• Ability to accurately follow operational procedures and maintain strong attention to detail.

• Flexibility to work shifts within a fast-paced, demanding environment both independently and collaboratively.
