Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be unemployed and not previously participated in the YES4Youth programme

Be between 18 and 29 years old
-
Be a South African citizen
-
Reside near Centurion or surrounding areas
-
Have no criminal record
-
Be available to start on 1 May 2026

Have a minimum qualification of Grade 12
-
A qualification related to facilities or maintenance will be an advantage

Possess a valid driver’s licence
-
Be physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment and perform climbing tasks

Be able to communicate effectively in English
-
Have the ability to plan and execute tasks or small projects
Role Overview
The Building & Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the smooth operation, safety, and upkeep of company buildings and facilities. The role includes performing routine maintenance tasks, assisting skilled technicians, conducting inspections, and helping maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and facilities

Perform minor maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
-
Assist with painting, plastering, tiling, and structural maintenance
-
Replace lights, filters, locks, handles, and similar components
-
Report major maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager
-
Maintain clean and organised maintenance areas and storerooms
-
Support environmentally responsible waste disposal and recycling processes
-
Ensure outdoor and surrounding facility areas remain clean and safe
-
Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures at all times
-
Conduct safety checks on tools and equipment
-
Assist electricians, plumbers, contractors, and technicians with complex maintenance tasks

Move and set up equipment, furniture, and materials when required
-
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
-
Record maintenance activities and materials used
-
Monitor and restock maintenance supplies and tools
-
Assist with procurement of replacement parts or materials
-
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and completed work
-
Respond to maintenance requests from the Maintenance Manager

Provide professional and timely assistance during inspections or repairs

Working Conditions
