Salary

  • CB1-1: R212 358 per annum
  • CB1-2: R257 895 per annum

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership / Basic Training

Experience Requirements:

  • CB1-1: No prior experience required
  • CB1-2: Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience at CB1-1 level
  • CB1-3: Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience at CB1-2 level

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Computer literacy
  • Firearm competency
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Understanding of Minimum Security Standards for correctional centres

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor offender sentence plans, incorporating recommendations from the Case Management Committee (CMC)
  • Complete and process official documentation (e.g. G331, G356 forms) and update systems accordingly
  • Refer committee decisions and recommendations to the appropriate officials and ensure feedback is received
  • Compile and maintain offender profile reports (G326) and related registers
  • Record and track parole and correctional supervision recommendations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and filing systems, including handling confidential records
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including classified documents
  • Verify offender information, including detention periods and release dates
  • Ensure all required documentation is submitted to the Head of the Correctional Centre
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of offender records and communication
  • Oversee safe custody procedures, including searching of offenders and facilities
  • Monitor offender movement and ensure accountability at all times
  • Prevent misuse of equipment and ensure compliance with security protocols
