Job Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is inviting applications from dedicated and hardworking individuals for 17 Cleaner positions across various stations and units in Gauteng. Successful candidates will help maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment by carrying out routine cleaning and general maintenance duties.

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7, or an equivalent NQF Level 1 qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • South African citizenship (proof will be required during the interview process).
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and detergents.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.
  • Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Willingness to work overtime or extended hours when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene inside and outside SAPS buildings.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, and office areas.
  • Clean kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, offices, and other assigned facilities.
  • Empty bins and remove refuse from designated areas.
  • Handle and safely store cleaning equipment, materials, and detergents.
  • Perform basic maintenance and general housekeeping tasks around the premises.
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods when required.
  • Maintain gardens and outdoor areas.
  • Wash and clean government vehicles, kitchenware, and utensils.
  • Ensure all cleaning duties are completed according to health and safety standards.

Salary: R144,024 per annum (Level 2)
