Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• AET Level 4 or Grade 9

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

Candidates should have:

• Knowledge of general cleaning procedures
• Knowledge of providing refreshments
• Understanding of safety requirements related to the position
• Knowledge of service delivery programmes
• Knowledge of how to operate household and cleaning appliances
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to perform routine duties effectively
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to operate domestic appliances safely

The ideal candidate should be reliable, responsible, polite and receptive to suggestions and ideas. Candidates should also demonstrate honesty and integrity in the performance of their duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining clean, hygienic and orderly facilities. Duties will include:

• Preparing and serving tea and refreshments
• Washing cups, dishes and utensils after tea breaks
• Vacuuming and sweeping offices
• Emptying and cleaning appliances where required
• Cleaning toilets and lecture-room blocks
• Cleaning windows and glass doors
• Mopping floors
• Dusting and wiping walls, surfaces and other areas
• Emptying rubbish bins
• Polishing floors
• Performing general cleaning and housekeeping duties
