Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) qualification recognised by SAQA.
• Valid Code EC driver's licence.
• Valid Operating Certificate.
• At least 2 years' experience operating specialised road construction or maintenance equipment.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, road maintenance procedures, and occupational health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate specialised road construction and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
• Transport work teams, materials, and equipment to project sites.
• Load and offload materials and machinery.
• Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment and report any defects.
• Perform basic maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and machinery records.
• Apply health and safety procedures at all times.
• Carry out gravel road grading, regravelling, and shoulder maintenance.
• Check vehicle oil, fuel, tyres, water levels, and other essential components before operation.
• Complete trip authorisations and other required operational documentation.
