About the Role
Unicare is seeking reliable and customer-focused Drivers to join its team at the 24-hour pharmacy in Somerset West. This role involves the safe, timely, and confidential delivery of prescription medication and healthcare products to customers and healthcare facilities, ensuring trust and efficiency in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication to homes, clinics, retirement centres, and hospitals
- Prioritise urgent deliveries to meet customer needs
- Safely handle scheduled and temperature-sensitive medication, including use of ice packs where required
- Load and transport parcels carefully to prevent damage
- Obtain delivery signatures and maintain accurate proof-of-delivery records
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality at all times
- Communicate professionally with customers and healthcare personnel
- Report customer queries or concerns to the Dispensary Manager
- Return undelivered or rejected items with proper documentation
- Ensure the delivery vehicle is clean and well-maintained
- Accurately complete delivery checklists and confirm parcel quantities before dispatch
- Carry out all assigned duties efficiently and responsibly
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
- At least 2 years’ experience in delivery or courier services
- Valid Code 08 or Code 10 driver’s licence (in line with South African Road Traffic Act)
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Clean driving record with no traffic violations
- Willingness to work shifts based on operational requirements

- Basic understanding of pharmacy procedures (advantageous)
