The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for a General Worker (Stores) position at Victoria Hospital. The successful candidate will support warehouse operations by receiving, storing, distributing, and transporting stock and equipment to ensure the efficient running of the hospital and surrounding healthcare facilities.

Minimum Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Relevant experience in a warehouse or stores environment, including receiving and distributing stock.
• Valid Code B/EB driver's licence.
• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy boxes.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload stock onto delivery vehicles.
• Transport goods and supplies to various hospital departments and surrounding health facilities.
• Pack and prepare stock according to established standards.
• Receive stock from the central warehouse and prepare it for courier distribution.
• Prepare stock for collection by requesting departments.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised stores environment.
• Rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
• Assist with moving hospital equipment when required.
• Support filing and administrative tasks.
• Participate in stocktaking and inventory control activities.

Skills and Competencies

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow workplace procedures and safety standards.
