Job Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is recruiting 30 Security Guards to provide security services at various facilities across Gauteng. Successful candidates will be responsible for protecting government property, controlling access to premises, conducting patrols, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 (Standard 8), NCV Level 2, or an equivalent NQF Level 2 qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • South African citizenship (proof will be required during the interview process).
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Valid registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
  • Grade C Security Certificate or higher.
  • Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Willingness to complete firearm competency training and maintain firearm competency.
  • Relevant security-related qualifications or experience will be an added advantage.
  • A valid light motor vehicle driver's licence will be advantageous.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of access control procedures.
  • Understanding of security policies, emergency procedures, and the Protection of Information Act.
  • Knowledge of security measures for protecting government property, equipment, and stores.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain alert, professional, and calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control access to SAPS premises by verifying the identity of employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Issue visitor access cards and maintain accurate visitor registers.
  • Inspect goods, equipment, and materials entering or leaving the premises.
  • Monitor and control vehicle access to restricted areas.
  • Conduct routine patrols of buildings, offices, parking areas, and surrounding premises.
  • Safeguard government vehicles, workshops, equipment, and facilities.
  • Monitor cleaners and maintenance personnel from a security perspective.
  • Inspect security systems and equipment and report any faults or security risks.
  • Report security incidents, deficiencies, and suspicious activities to supervisors.
  • Provide support to senior security personnel during security operations and emergencies.

Salary: R170,226 per annum (Level 3)
