Salary: R170 226 – R200 523 per annum (Level 03)

The Western Cape Division of the High Court is inviting applications for the position of Usher Messenger. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 certificate.
  • No previous work experience is required.

Added Advantages:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • At least one year of general administrative experience.
  • Basic to intermediate computer literacy.
  • General knowledge of office administration.

Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical assessment to evaluate their technical knowledge and general competencies for the role.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Planning and organisational abilities.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to work professionally in a court environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort Judges to and from courtrooms and attend court proceedings.
  • Prepare courtrooms before sessions begin.
  • Deliver exhibits and legal documents between Judges and legal representatives during hearings.
  • Assist self-represented litigants with the Court Online system in courtrooms and administrative offices.
  • Perform messenger duties within and outside the court.
  • Collect and distribute mail, parcels, files, and official documents.
  • Photocopy court documents and judgments.
  • Provide administrative support to other sections of the court during court terms and recess periods as directed by the Chief Registrar or Court Manager.
