Job Purpose

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations by handling stock, preparing orders, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring efficient movement of goods. The role plays a key part in ensuring accurate inventory management and timely dispatch of products.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Handling & Control

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against delivery notes
• Accurately store items in designated warehouse locations
• Assist with stock counting and cycle counts
• Report discrepancies, damages, or shortages to supervisors

Picking, Packing & Dispatch

• Pick stock according to order sheets or system instructions
• Pack goods securely and label them correctly for dispatch
• Prepare orders for delivery or collection
• Assist with loading and unloading of delivery vehicles

Warehouse Operations

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
• Ensure proper handling of goods to prevent damage
• Follow company procedures and safety regulations
• Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, scanners where applicable)

Health & Safety Compliance

• Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
• Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 / Matric (Grade 12 preferred)
• Previous warehouse or general worker experience is advantageous
• Basic understanding of stock control processes
• Ability to read and write in English

Skills & Competencies

• Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items
• Strong attention to detail
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Good time management and reliability
• Basic numerical skills for stock counting
• Ability to follow instructions accurately

Working Conditions

• Warehouse environment with moderate to heavy physical activity
• May involve standing for long hours
• Shift work, weekends, or overtime may be required depending on client needs

• Accuracy of stock handling and order picking
• Timeliness of order preparation and dispatch
• Adherence to safety and operational procedures
