Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Possess a Grade 12 / Senior Certificate

  • Be computer literate with strong attention to detail

  • Submit a recommendation or nomination letter from a community organisation (not older than 6 months)

  • Be able to work independently and within a team

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Batho Pele principles

  • Have good communication and report-writing skills

  • Be assertive and capable of working under pressure

A valid driver’s licence will be advantageous but is not compulsory.

Preference will be given to applicants residing near the correctional centre where the position is available.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Visit correctional centres daily

  • Engage with inmates and correctional officials regarding complaints and concerns

  • Monitor conditions within correctional facilities

  • Report on deaths, segregation, use of force, and use of restraints

  • Assist JICS officials during inspections and investigations

  • Handle administrative duties, complaint capturing, and report writing
