The UNFPA South Africa Country Office is offering internship opportunities in the following areas:
- Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), HIV, Gender, and Adolescent & Youth Programmes (2 Interns)
- Operations and Administration (1 Intern)
About the Opportunity
UNFPA is looking for motivated and passionate interns to support programme coordination, administration, communication, and operational activities within the organisation. Successful candidates will gain valuable experience working in a multicultural and professional United Nations environment while contributing to impactful development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
SRHR, HIV, Gender, and Youth Interns
- Assist with planning and coordinating stakeholder meetings, workshops, and forums.
- Support the preparation of programme summaries, briefing notes, concept papers, and communication materials.
- Assist with internal communications and content coordination.
- Help coordinate work plans, training activities, and logistics arrangements.
- Monitor and support programme implementation activities.
- Provide administrative and project support within the assigned portfolio.
Operations & Administration Intern
- Support VAT management and financial monitoring activities.
- Assist with expenditure analysis and budget tracking.
- Help prepare annual work plans and budget adjustments.
- Support donor financial reporting and payment processing.
- Liaise with finance teams and monitor outstanding processes.
Eligibility Requirements
Education
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, or
- Have recently graduated and begin the internship within one year of graduation.
Additional Requirements
- Strong interest in development work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
