Pick n Pay Family Elspark is seeking an experienced and skilled Meat Cutter to join its butchery department in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for meat processing, customer service, and maintaining high food safety standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, packaging, and displaying a variety of meat products while ensuring quality, freshness, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and store meat deliveries.
• Sharpen and maintain knives and cutting equipment.
• Cut, trim, debone, grind, and prepare meat products.
• Process beef carcasses, forequarters, hindquarters, and lamb.
• Prepare steaks, chops, roasts, and other retail meat cuts.
• Weigh, package, label, and display meat products for sale.
• Fulfil customer requests for custom meat cuts.
• Store meat in refrigerators and freezers at the correct temperatures.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and preparation areas.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering meat supplies.
• Ensure all meat products are correctly labelled with cut, grade, packaging date, and expiry information.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
• Butchery-related qualification.
• Previous meat processing experience.
• Competent in operating butchery machinery and equipment.
• Minimum of 4–6 years' experience in a retail butchery environment.

• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
