About the Opportunity
The South African Police Service (SAPS) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for five (5) Supply Chain Clerk positions available across various provinces. Successful candidates will assist with supply chain administration, asset management, logistics, procurement, inventory control, and related administrative functions.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language.
- Possess a Grade 12 (Matric), Senior Certificate, NCV Level 4, or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification recognised by SAQA.
- Relevant Supply Chain Management or logistics-related courses will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of Public Service legislation and supply chain management processes.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Office.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and administrative abilities.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
- Problem-solving and planning capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professionalism, accountability, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure and, when necessary, extended hours.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the location, successful candidates will perform duties such as:
- Managing and maintaining government assets and inventories.
- Administering room inventories and conducting physical asset inspections.
- Processing the receipt, issuing, transfer, and disposal of state property.
- Maintaining supplier databases and supporting procurement processes.
- Assisting with acquisition and demand management activities.
- Supporting logistics, fleet, and mechanical services administration.
- Managing movable government property and storerooms.
- Monitoring asset losses and maintaining accurate asset records.
- Assisting with occupational health, safety, environmental, and facility management functions.
- Providing general supply chain and administrative support.
