About the Programme
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) invites applications for its 2027/2028 Aspirant Prosecutor Training Programme. This 12-month structured training programme is designed to prepare law graduates for a career as professional prosecutors within the National Prosecuting Authority.
Successful candidates will receive practical and theoretical training and will be continuously assessed throughout the programme to determine their readiness for appointment as Prosecutors.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Hold an LLB degree or an equivalent foreign qualification recognised by SAQA.
- Final-year LLB students may also apply, provided they complete their qualification before the programme begins.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, integrity, and the ability to work independently.
Programme Information
Participants will:
- Complete a comprehensive 12-month prosecutor training programme.
- Undergo continuous assessments throughout the programme.
- Be required to write an entry examination as part of the selection process.
- Sign a training contract with the National Prosecuting Authority.
- Be expected to comply with the NPA Code of Conduct and all applicable prosecutorial policies and directives.
- Be required to attend the programme for the full 12-month period.
Important Information
- The programme is expected to commence on 1 March 2027.
- Successful applicants must be available to start on the official commencement date.
- Requests to begin training after the official start date will not be considered.
- Candidates who successfully complete the programme may be offered placement at any NPA office in South Africa, depending on organisational needs.
- Permanent placement is not guaranteed at the office where the candidate completed training.
- Declining an offer of placement after successfully completing the programme may result in the termination of the training contract.
