Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development manages national agricultural policies and programmes that support farmers, livestock production, land reform initiatives, and rural communities.

Purpose of the Data Capturer Role

Data Capturers form part of the administrative backbone of government departments. Their main responsibility is to capture, organise, verify, and maintain information within electronic systems and databases to ensure that programmes are effectively monitored and evaluated.

In the agricultural sector, accurate data is essential for tracking farming activities, monitoring livestock health programmes, supporting agricultural development initiatives, and ensuring proper reporting for government planning.

  • Verifying and correcting errors or missing information during data entry

  • Updating registers, records, and statistical information

  • Maintaining electronic and physical filing systems

  • Ensuring all captured data is accurate, complete, and properly stored

  • Generating reports and providing information to relevant units when required

  • Strong data accuracy and verification skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

In many cases, captured data is used to generate reports that guide government decisions on agricultural policies, disease control, and rural economic development.
